"Wavy Process" Tape
"Wavy Process, the official debut from unofficial Elbow Room house band Jandyband, is two sitcom-length sides of earbending techno, software-damaged psyche grooves, Roomba-rock workouts, and anxious ambient seeking. A duo comprised of Elbow Room studio artist Andy Louie and co-founder Joel Stotesbery, Jandyband's music is the product of a homegrown collaborative process that utilizes chance-based systems, open-ended prompts, and free improvisation alongside an idiosyncratic gear setup that combines traditional instruments with digital and analog hardware, effects processors, software synthesizers and music apps. The result is a restless, high-contrast psychedelia in which new-age synth textures bump hips with twitchy, ultra-syncopated bursts of rhythm and disparate elements tease around the edges of euphoria before locking ito the next preposterous groove. Wavy Process captures a band always on the move, improvising new shapes to accommodate the oddball family of sounds they've collected. For fans of: Black Dice, the Rainforest Cafe, wandering through Minecraft, Oval, waving to your friends outside the Amazon warehouse in Troutdale, Olivia Newton John."
